Award-winning photographer, Shirley Whitenack, will teach this class consisting of lecture, demonstration, and on-location photography, with emphasis on improving composition. Students will learn to see and read light, how to effectively use exposure compensation, add flash outdoors, and use reflectors. Although the first class will be a review of camera functions, participants should have a comfortable working knowledge of their cameras.
On-location session in downtown Franklin will emphasize learning how to fully utilize directional light, determine proper exposure, exploit depth of field, and experiment with adjusting ISO and shutter speed. Bring your camera, instruction manual, film/digital media, and your questions. Tripod is recommended; instructor will bring a few extra.
Class wrap-up will include image critiques and follow-up questions. Each participant will receive photography handouts to keep for future reference. Expect to leave this class with the confidence to take control of your camera and create more dynamic photographs.
